Introduction to Allied Families

This is a section of the website focusing on families having close ties with the MOFFATTs in Co. Longford. Among the families (no particular order) are WALSH, McCORD, WILSON, SHAW, BOLE, GOULDSBURY, McCLOUGHRY, ADAMSON, HEWITT, LEECH, and CRAWFORD.

Naturally some are closer to the MOFFATTs of particular interest in the Killashee & Clonguish area, and during the pre-emigration period these would include the WILSON, SHAW, BOLE, McCLOUGHRY families in particular.

After emigration it appears that the WALSH family of Ballybeg Townland in Taghsheenod Parish had a close association, and so families connected with that family also have many details researched.

The amount of information on each of these families is variable, and except for the family of JOHN & LETITIA WALSH and their connections, have not been examined in full detail. Fortunately some others have studied other families, and this is especially true of the McCLOUGHRY group of families.
