Moffatt pedigree at the National Archives, Dublin - M 5685.

This is a pedigree of the Moffett family compiled from information supplied by Miss Bole and other sources, apparently related to a legal dispute. There are some errors in the earler generations, but it does follow some of the Moffett family members into the 20th century. The original chart is difficult to read, and would not be appropriate to scan.

It should be noted that in addition to errors in this chart, there are many children not mentioned (See Killashee Register).

2.viii.16 Cathcar H........ 11 Ely Place.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Thomas Moffett (Gent) Jean McCloghery
(of Clonmore) = of Abbey darg
died 27 May 1800 died 27 Oct 1800

ML Kilmore and Ardagh 1746

Pencilled note at right of this entry I have interpreted as follows;

Cert of Marr in Dublin Library Kildare St. Prerogative Index 1824 Kilmore married in Clontarf . There is a pencilled line connecting this note to the black penned entry for David Moffett (of Grillagh) Just above the penned name of David Moffett - a pencilled note reads 'add 90 ? '

Under the entry for Magaret Moffett in extreme right corner of this document is another pencilled note which I have interpreted as follows;

Margaret Moffett - (written in black ink )
underneath in pencil is
1st line = ..... Crawford
2nd line - N.B. This line is particularly difficult. Looks like 'Cormick will' but am really not sure.
3rd line - Jas Watson Murry of Mosstown ? N.B. the question mark is pencilled in.

This pedigree sheet is about 30 inches wide and about 4 inches long.

The basic text is written in Black ink, while additional notes have been written in red ink.
the two entires in lead pencil have been dealt with above.
There are also some notes in heavy blue pencil.

It would be difficult to determine what entries are decipherable in a copy of this pedigree, and also to clearly state where the fainter notes are situated. For this reason, the pedigree has been gone through carefully and all details extracted.

The top line of the pedigree reads as follows

Thomas Moffett (Gent) = Jean McCloghery

Red ink- died 27.May 1800 died 27 Oct 1800 ML Kilmore and Ardagh 1746

Thomas Moffett of Swords = Ann Brownrigg or Browning Connolly
In red ink - the surname Browning has been crossed out.
Underneath Thomas Moffett's name an entry in red in was crossed out in red ink. It is difficult to decipher, but it may read alive in 1867 - 1878

This entire note is circled in red ink and encompasses the original black entry of Thomas Bryson's name. Underneath the circle is the notation in red ink - 'Living in Canada'.

Underneath this notation is a further entry in red ink. It appears to refer to Elizabeth A Moffett as an asterisk appears just to the left of her name, and a line is then drawn down to a further asterisk at this entry. However, the years of birth and death do not quite add up to the stated age at death.
It reads - Born in year 1816
Baptised 10 March 1816 at Castledermot Co. Kildare.

ii. James William Moffett Bryson
Born 1854
ob 1894 Bachelor.

Apart from the note 'ob 1894' which is written in black ink, the entire record of James William Moffett Bryson is written in red ink.
